Frequently Asked Questions
Is the free version really free? Is there a trial period?
Yes — truly free, no trial period, no credit card required, no account needed. Five Easy to Medium scenarios are permanently free for everyone. We believe patients and their families should never face a financial barrier to diabetes education.
When will Contributor and Educator tiers launch?
We are targeting a 2026 launch. Join the waitlist to be notified. Contributors keep education free for patients worldwide.
Which scenarios are free?
Five Easy to Medium difficulty scenarios are permanently free. These cover foundational insulin management concepts for T1D and T2D patients, children and adults using insulin.
Does FlightGlucose work offline?
Yes. FlightGlucose is a Progressive Web App (PWA). After your first visit, the game caches itself and works without an internet connection. This is important for patients in areas with unreliable connectivity.
Is the medical content accurate?
All glucose targets, insulin pharmacokinetics, and clinical protocols follow the Latest ADA/EASD/ISPAD Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes. That said, FlightGlucose is an educational simulation, not a substitute for clinical advice. Always follow your care team's guidance.
Can I use FlightGlucose in my clinic or hospital without paying?
Yes. The Free to Learn tier has no restrictions on use. You can share the link, assign scenarios as homework, use it during education appointments, or deploy it in your waiting room — all at no cost. The Educator tier adds administrative and reporting tools on top of this.
Do you offer institutional or bulk pricing?
Yes. Contact us for institutional licensing, volume discounts for diabetes education programs, and integration options.
How do I support the project without subscribing?
What is FlightGlucose?
FlightGlucose is a free browser-based diabetes education game that teaches insulin management through an interactive flight simulation. Players learn to dose basal and bolus insulin, count carbs, and respond to hypo- and hyperglycemia across realistic clinical scenarios based on ADA/EASD/ISPAD guidelines.
Is FlightGlucose suitable for Type 2 Diabetes?
Yes. While the simulation focuses on insulin management, it is valuable for anyone using insulin — including T2D patients on basal-bolus therapy or mixed insulin regimens. The carb counting, glucose monitoring, and meal management concepts apply to both T1D and T2D.
Can FlightGlucose replace a diabetes educator?
No. FlightGlucose is a supplementary education tool, not a replacement for a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES) or your clinical care team. It reinforces concepts taught in diabetes self-management education (DSME) programs and gives patients a safe environment to practice insulin decisions.
What devices does FlightGlucose work on?
FlightGlucose works on any device with a modern web browser — phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. It is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that can be installed to your home screen and works offline after the first visit.
